How does a caterpillar look happy?? LoL.
It is okay for him to be out with other animals.
Caterpillars don’t need to be at a specific tempersture, just make sure that his container is half in the sun, and half in the shade.

Why did it need saving? Caterpillars have been surviving just fine outdoors for millions of years. If it was surviving outside, it probably needs the current temperature and plants in your garden. If you want to watch it grow in a container, you’ll have to feed it fresh leaves of the plants you found it on until it pupates. You can set the container on a shaded porch or outdoor space to give it the right temperature and humidity, but don’t set it in a sunny spot because the container can heat up too much. It can be fun to watch a caterpillar grow and find out what type of butterfly or moth it is. But if you just want it to be safe and happy, it would be fine to release it where you found it.
